We don't usually come across new websites as cool as our very own Solomodels :) but today Adobe has released Photoshop Express and we must agree, its quite an impressive tool for performing basic image editing functions.
So if you don't own Photoshop or just aren't that much in too computers and need a basic and yet powerful tool to crop, color correct, or perform simple editing functions on your photos, be sure and visit

| Artistic competition / iTouch winner! |

A big round of congratulations to Christime (member #12209) who won our last Artistic competition with the photo below. The competition turned out to be one the most competitive ones we've ever had, with the top 4 scorers just a mere 0.02 points away from each!
She will soon be receiving her own brand new iTouch courtesy of Solomodels, so now she too be able to show her iPhone/iTouch optimized portfolio to the whole world :)

| New batch upload tool with support for Windows Vista |

We just released a new and improved batch upload utility that also supports Windows Vista. Some of you may have experienced problems with the ActiveX upload utility under Windows Vista and this new release not only offers support for Windows Vista, but also offers many enhancements and performance improvements.
If you're still using the old boring method of individually selecting your photos and uploading them one at a time, you definitely will want to checkout this new utility that lets you not only preview and rotate your photos before uploading them, but also lets you upload multiple photos at one time.
For explorer users, you will be prompted to install the new ActiveX utility the next time you visit the batch upload option. You'll only have to install it once, after that it will be saved on your computer for future use without the need to reinstall it each time. For firefox or apple computer users, you'll be presented with an identical java based version instead. |

| Introducing HD Video and High Fidelity Stereo Sound |

You won't find it on any other video sharing site - not even on youtube - but its already here in astounding color and sound on Solomodels! We are pleased to introduce a major upgrade to our flash creatives and videos - it's no secret that we like to be the best and our developers have once again left even the likes of youtube and google playing catchup with Solomodels.
Starting today, our video sections now support up to 500 videos of 150MB in size and in an industry first, variable sizes between the standard 320x240 to HD quality size of a whopping 860x480 pixels! But its not just the bigger sizes that makes us different, its our new advanced On2-VP6 and 2-pass VDR high quality compression and full fidelity 112kbs 44.1Khz stereo sound that renders your videos for web delivery in never seen before quality and sound, and yet designed to stream in realtime with just an ordinary 512Kbps broadband connection (by the way, most broadband connections are 5 to 10 times as faster than 512Kbps)
For most of you, this technical stuff may seem like a second language, but the short translation is that just like with the photos you upload, what you upload is what people get to see, with virtually indistinguishable difference to the human eye or ears!

| We're not being bought out !!! |

We don't know how rumors get started, but for everyone out there that is worried about Solomodels being bought out by our competitors and turned into yet another typical modeling site (we won't go into details), rest assured these rumors are false.
Yes, we've gotten quite a few inquiries and interest in our product over the years, and even more more interest recently by some bigger players, but we have no intention of selling our business! Instead, we plan on continuing our amazing growth and bringing you even more amazing functionality over the coming months and years.
As best we can tell, we're the only modeling site in the world now that doesn't offer a 100% free account and/or rely on advertisements to supplement revenue. From the very beginning we knew that if we offered a superior product with superior features, the professionals in this industry would realize the benefits and won't mind paying a few dollars a month to be part our unique community, and this its definitely paying off for us now.
So to our valued members, rest assured we'll keep Solomodels just the way it is for many years to come - the world's most powerful and feature packed solution for the true professionals that care about these things. |
