Posted 12/14/2008 4:31 PM PST |
A big congratulations to our iTouch Swimwear Competition winner: Kelly Marie Szabo (SM# 19079) won the competition with a huge margin and will soon be receiving her brand new ultra cool 2nd generation Apple iTouch in the mail just in time for the Christmas holidays,
We'll soon be introducing two more competitions so stay tuned and check your email for the new competition notifications. People who join early tend to get more votes and usually have an extra "edge" to become the winners, so it pays to join early and get all your friends to vote for you early.

| New flash slideshows when viewing profiles |
Posted 11/16/2008 7:58 PM PST |
Hey folks,
We just added a very cool feature to let visitors to your profile better view your photos. Now anytime you're viewing a member's profile on solomodels, you can click the "Slideshow" link that appears to the right to immediately be taken to a beautiful slideshow of all their photos.
The flash slideshow not only perfectly resizes to your screen, but it also offers a "fullscreen" option near the bottom right corner so you can view the members photos in beautiful high resolution and utilizing your entire screen area. Solomodels members can even grab this slideshow as a "widget" to take to their own websites, blogs, myspace pages and anywhere else that allows embedding of flash content.
Let us know what you think by posting your comments in this discussion.
Brought to you by your dedicated solomodels team. |

| New Offline Gallery Viewing Options |
Posted 10/21/2008 8:46 PM PST |
If you've had a client that has requested to have offline access to your photos or proofs, probably the only option you've had so far is to spend hours resizing a bunch of images, zip them into a huge file, upload it to a hosting service, and then share the link. Even then, there is no guarantee that the recipient has a suitable photo management program to easy review your work.
With the introduction of our new Desktop Slideshow Viewer, this is all about to change. All it takes now to give your clients offline access to your photos, is a simple click of the mouse!
These two amazing new features allow you to instantly generate and download a fully packaged slideshow program that your clients can simply double-click an icon (PC and Mac versions) and instantly view offline any number of photos from a single gallery in a state-of-the-art photo viewer. Not only does this viewer perfectly resize your images to the user's screen, but even has options such as a thumbnail viewer and automatic slideshows.
Think of it as a "self contained" program that people can simply double-click to view your photos, even when they are not connected ot to the internet. |

| Introducting new Flash Widgets and HTML Templates |
Posted 8/31/2008 5:38 PM PST |
Flash widgets are everywhere, lots of sites offer them, including companies like slide.com, rockyou.com and countless others, and some companies such as sproutbuilder.com even have flash widget creation tools that rival mini applications.
The problem with all these widgets is that they are heavily branded and static in nature — so once you've created one, they do NOT automatically update, you have to go back and either create a new one or manually "edit" them as you add new content. Their heavy branding and static nature also means that while they may be good for "pimping your myspace", they're not much good when you're trying to use them in a professional setting or when you need to them to automatically update themselves with your new content.
The new Solomodels widget collection is completely different. They contain no branding, which means that you can actually use them in designing your own HTML websites, or to post on your personal blogs, myspace pages or just about anywhere else where flash embeds are accepted, and because they feed off your "live" content in your solomodels account, the automatically update themselves in realtime anytime you make changes, so there is no need to re-edit or re-copy/re-paste each time you make changes.
In additional, most of our flash widgets also offer a wealth of customizations from your own colors, to user-definable height and widths, including % based dimensions and fullscreen options. Unlike the many flash widgets from competitors, they also display the same high resolution photos and videos you are used to seeing on Solomodels, and offer unlimited bandwidth, so you never have to worry about your widgets going offline. |

| PDF compcards are back |
Posted 8/12/2008 6:08 PM PST |
Our PDF compcards were offline for a few months, but they are now back, leaner, meaner and better looking than ever. And they also come in two versions, a smaller thumbnails only version and a full version with all your photos. They are optimized for screen viewing and printing, and protected so that viewers can not edit or copy your content from them, but only view and/or print them. You can even decide whether you want just the thumbnail version or the thumbnail and full versions, or you can simply turn them off altogether.
This feature is turned off by default, so if you want our system to automatically generate and include the PDF compcards in your profile, please visit the Portfolio > PDF section and enable them.
Some of our competitors charge hundreds of dollars just to let your upload a PDF file, and/or charge you even more to create them! But with solomodels, its just another cool feature at your disposal at no extra cost. |

| Why don't you offer free accounts? |
Posted 6/30/2008 9:42 PM PST |
Why don't you offer free accounts?
We get emailed this question almost daily, it's just how the web is supposed to work I guess, everything should be free?
Well we thought we'll this opportunity to list a few reasons why Solomodels doesn't offer free accounts:
1- We don't show any ads! Every business must bring in revenue if its wants to stay in business. Offering free accounts means we need to throw ads everywhere, which is something we definitely don't want to do.
2- The scam artists will kill us! Literally! On few tests we ran, literally hundreds of spammers join and immediately start mass emailing everyone perpetuating their scams. Our exclusive community of professionals are just too tempting for the scammers to pass up.
3- We offer a valuable product, from advanced flash websites others charge thousands of dollars to tools you won't find anywhere else. After all, you don't go to web hosting companies expecting free hosting? Why is it that some expect Solomodels should offer its services for free?
4- We don't run this service for money alone! Trust us, we could instantly increase our revenue ten fold if we opened Solomodels, offered free accounts, and let adult site promoters on our platform. We'd make a lot more money from ads and the tens of thousands of photographers with adult work and adult performers who would want to join. But then our ultra cool and exclusive site will be just like the other sites, and we'd rather keep it the way it is.
So for those of you that are on Solomodels and are taking advantage of our services, we'd like to thank you for your support. For those of you that think this service is "unaffordable", it only costs about $4/month, and for that you get a wealth of features that separately would cost you thousands.
Last but not least, not having to support millions of free users means we can offer a superior service to the people that don't mind paying the $4/month for a superior service, such as free email and phone support and a dynamic and constantly improving platform.
So what’s being added next? An entirely new generation of flash creatives :) These babies are going to be HOT!
